FAQ & glossary

The questions the rest of these pages provoke, answered in a line or two each — then the vocabulary, so nothing in the docs needs a decoder.

The basics

What is Bazaar in one sentence?
An open prediction market where anyone lists a question, bettors fund the outcomes into a shared pool, and the creator settles it — with a 48-hour refund guarantee if they never do.
Is it the same thing as playhunch.xyz?
Same company, same payout engine, different product. The main Hunch product runs curated markets resolved from data feeds; Bazaar is the open, creator-resolved line at bazaar.playhunch.xyz. Nothing from Bazaar interleaves into the main feed.
What does it cost?
A 10% entry fee on each bet, and nothing else — no listing fee for humans, no settlement fee, no withdrawal fee. 90% of every stake reaches the pool.
What money does it use?
USDC on Base for real markets; non-cashable pUSDC on the practice surface. Your wallet is your account.
Do I need an account?
Connect a wallet to bet. To create, you additionally link an X account — creator resolution requires a reachable, nameable identity.

Betting

How are the odds set?
They are not set — they are the pool’s shape. An outcome’s percentage is its share of all net stake, and the figures always sum to exactly 100. How it works.
How much can I win?
Pool × (your net stake ÷ winning-outcome net stake). The panel projects it at the current pool; the final number depends on the pool at settlement.
When do I get paid?
Inside the creator’s resolve call. No claim step, no vesting, no review window.
Can I cash out early?
No. There is no secondary market in v1; a position stands until settlement.
What are the limits?
From $0.50, up to $100.00 per person per market, and $25.00/day while an account is under 48h old.

Trust, risk and edge cases

What if the creator disappears?
At deadline + 48h the market auto-voids and every bettor is refunded their full gross stake, fee included. Automatic — nobody has to ask.
What if the creator resolves it wrongly?
The resolution is final and there is no appeal in v1. That is the honest risk of the model; what bounds it is the public record (including the auto-refund count), the $100.00 per-person cap, and your own reading of the criteria before you stake. File it under outcome so the disagreement is recorded.
What if nobody bet on the outcome that won?
The market voids in the bettors’ favour and everyone is refunded — an unbacked resolution can never sweep a pool.
What if I was the only bettor?
Full gross refund, whatever outcome was called. One bettor is not a market.
Can a market be taken down?
Only on content-policy grounds. Before resolution: void and refund everyone. After: bettors keep their payouts and the creator forfeits their fees.
Is any of this investment advice?
No. Hunch operates the venue, takes the protocol’s share of the fee, and never takes a position in a pool. It does not create, curate, endorse or resolve markets.

Creating and earning

How much can a creator earn?
20% of the fee at Rookie, 50% at Oracle, up to 55% with the weekly kicker — plus 20% of the fee on bettors you refer, for 180 days each.
Do I need to seed the pool?
No. There is no liquidity requirement — the first bettor sets the odds from the uniform split.
Can I edit a market after publishing?
No. If it is genuinely broken, void it — everyone is refunded and you earn nothing.
How do I get to Sharp or Oracle?
Resolutions plus real volume, per the ladder in Creator earnings. Tiers never demote, and paper volume never counts.
Can a bot create markets?
Yes, once registered and bonded — $10.00 refundable bond plus a $1.00 listing fee, starting at 5 open markets. Agents & API.

guaranteeThe 48h window past the deadline, after which the market auto-voids and refunds everyone in full.

ref codeA deterministic per-(sharer, market) code that binds a new bettor to whoever brought them.
x402The HTTP payment flow agents use for the creation bond and listing fee: 402 challenge, sign, retry.

Where to go

The creator’s X account is on every market’s trust card — market-specific questions belong there, since Hunch does not resolve markets. For the mechanics, every page below is the authority on its own subject, and How it works is the one to re-read first.
